Theresa (Fiorini) D'Amore

Theresa (Fiorini) D'Amore, 89, formerly of Third St., passed away peacefully on Monday, March 26, 2012 in Rome Memorial Hospital. She was born on January 7, 1923, a daughter of the late Lazzaro and Carmella Sticca Fiorini and was educated locally. On March 21, 1942 in St. John the Baptist Church, Theresa was united in marriage to John P. D'Amore; a blessed union of 26 years until his passing on December 8, 1968. Theresa was employed with the City of Rome Recreation Department working at Pinti Field for 17 years. She then worked for Rome DDSO, retiring after 19 years of dedicated employment. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church. Theresa's true joy in life was her family. Whether it be cooking Sunday dinner, hosting family gatherings or just sitting and talking over a cup of coffee under the grapevine, nothing made her happier than time spent with family and friends. Theresa is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law, John and Madonna D'Amore, Ron and Fran D'Amore, and Larry and Patricia D'Amore all of Rome; eleven cherished grandchildren, Dean D'Amore and Shelley, Darlene D'Amore, Dana D'Amore, Derrick D'Amore, Robb and Lisa D'Amore, Kristin and Steve Grunder, Jennifer and Nick Mendiola, Deshane D'Amore and Kendall, Cortney and Brad Glerup, Tracey Burris and Tari-Lyn Orton; nine great grandchildren, Caden, Ryan, Samantha, Sydney, Miles, Adam, Shawn, Chris, and Carmen; a sister, Angeline Garafalo of Rome; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Anguilli and two brothers, Gerald and Anthony Fiorini. Mrs. D'Amore's funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Paul Angelicchio. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Gulla Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 209 N. Washington St., Rome, (336-5700). In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Jervis Library, 613 N. Washington St., Rome, NY 13440 or the Rome Humane Society, P.O. Box 4572, Rome, NY 13440. The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Terrace at Woodlawn and 2North, 3South, and the Emergency Department at Rome Memorial Hospital for the wonderful care shown to Theresa.
