Nicholas Macri, 68, of Rome, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 8, 2012 at home after a brief illness. He was born on January 9, 1944 in Chiaravalle, Italy, a son of the late Domenico and Maria Macri. He was raised and educated in Italy. On September 11, 1965 in St. John the Baptist Church, Nick was united in marriage to the former Carol Cortese. He retired from Revere Copper and Brass after 32 years of dedicated employment. Nick was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Galliano Club, and Rome Elks Club #96. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Nick was gifted at making homemade wine. Nicholas is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Carol; five sons and three daughters-in-law, Michael Macri, Marc and Tricia Macri, all of Rome, Christopher and Kate Macri, David and Ann Macri, and Dan Macri and his fiancAC.e, Keleigh Gallagher, all of Rochester; seven cherished grandchildren, Alexa and Michael Macri, Nicholas and Marco Macri, and Dominic, Adrianna, and Vincent Macri; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Palma Sestito and Catherine "Nella" and Nicholas Cortese; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Macri, all of Italy; a brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Frank and Lucille Cortese of Schenectady and Joyce Cortese of Pennsylvania; many special friends who know who they are; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Antoinetta Velona and a brother, Francesco Macri. Mr. Macri's funeral will be held on Wednesday at 1:00p.m. at St. John the Baptist Church where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Paul Angelicchio. The family will receive relatives and friends following the Mass. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
