Harold J. Baker, 70, of Georgian Arms Apartments passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, October 18, 2006. He was born on May 16, 1936 in Ovid, New York, a son of the late James and Mildred Karlsen Baker. Harold was employed with Cataldo Bothers Concrete and the Birnie Bus Service for several years. He was always willing to help his family and friends with whatever was needed of him. He dearly loved his grandchildren. Harold was a frequent visitor of the Welcome Hall Community Center that he referred to as the "Coffee Cup Caf". Harold is survived by four daughters and two sons-in-law, Wuanita and Bruce Converse of Rome, Lynette Baker of Sloansville, NY, Catherine VanBuren of Amsterdam, NY, and Genie and Dave VanAsdale of Rome; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Gene and Donna Messenger of MA, Harold Baker of Central Square, Larry and Mary Weissgerber of WI, and Russell MacDougall of Scotia, NY; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; three brothers, Richard and his wife, Gail Baker, Robert Baker, and Donald Baker; a sister, Francine Baker; several nieces and nephews; and his special friends at the "Coffee Cup Caf".
