Carol J. Hill, 62, of Rome, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2006 after a long illness. Her loving family was by her side at the time of her passing which occurred at her daughter's home. She was born on November 15, 1943 in Kirkland, a daughter of the late Leslie and Norean Staple Freiberger. Carol was raised and educated locally and graduated from Rome Free Academy. She was formerly employed with Kmart and most recently with Lowes Home Improvement. Carol was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and is survived by six daughters and three sons-in-law, Lauri and Shaun Edick of Rome, Dianna Adams of West Virginia, Kathleen and John Jeffery of Rome, Bev and Donald Selvetti of Rome, Rebecca Drake of Pennsylvania, and Teresa Gosslee of Maryland; three sons, Michael Drake of Pennsylvania, Troy Drake, and Thomas Drake, II both of Illinois; 20 cherished grandchildren; her special great granddaughter and the love of her life, Isabella "Bella Boo" Winters; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Peg Wickham of Kentucky, Pat and Lynn Peters of Clinton, and Marie and Chuck Shepard of Rome; a brother, Frank Freiberger of Utica; special friends, Sheri and Cassandra Peters, Linda Pelano, and Miss Leo; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Bubba Burch; and two brothers, Bobby and Johnny Freiberger.
