Anna L. (Navelli) Fiorenza, 97, formerly of Rome Towers Apartments, passed away on Monday, June 11, 2012 at Betsy Ross Nursing Facility. She was born on October 9, 1914 in Rome; a daughter of the late Amleto and Theresa Santoro Navelli. In June of 1935 in St. John the Baptist Church, Anna was united in marriage to August Fiorenza, Sr.; a blessed union of almost 60 years until his passing which occurred in December of 1994. She worked at Nelson's Department Store and Rosen's Apparel for several years. Anna was a member of St. John the Baptist Church. She was a former member of Ava Dorfman's Senior Citizens Center and Rome Business and Professional Women's Association. She loved playing cards and Bingo at Rome Towers Apartments. She was an avid golfer and bowler and was a member of several leagues through the years. Anna was a loving mother and grandmother and was devoted to her family. Anna is survived by a daughter and son-in-law,Jeanette and Anthony Agnone of Rome; a son and daughter-in-law, August Jr. and Johanna Fiorenza of Charlotte, NC; four cherished grandchildren and their spouses, Michael and Deborah Agnone, Dina and Joseph Vaughan, Matthew and Erika Fiorenza, and Adam and Amy Fiorenza; eight great grandchildren, Kyle and Rachel Agnone, Kara and Evan Vaughan, Vincent and Lucas Fiorenza, and Joseph and Lyla Fiorenza; sister-in-law, Julia Navelli; brother-in-law, Harold Cohen; special friends Ella Mazzafero and Wendy Tyler; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary and her husband, George Mercurio and Josephine Cohen; and a brother, August Navelli. Mrs. Fiorenza's funeral will be held on Friday at 9:00a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church where Father Paul Angelicchio will Celebrate her Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Church Memorial Fund or to a charity of one's choice. The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the entire staff at Betsy Ross for the wonderful care shown to Anna.
