Alyce K. Reber

Alyce K. Reber, 88, of Bethany Gardens, formerly of West Carter Rd., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 13, 2012. She was born on September 18, 1923 in Rome, a daughter of the late James and Margaret Littleton Kenneally. On December 16, 1950 in St. Peter's Church, Alyce was united in marriage to Karl Reber; a blessed union of 55 years until his passing which occurred on February 20, 2006. She retired from New York Telephone in 1960. Alyce was a licensed beautician and worked from her home for many years. She was a member of St. Peter's Church and enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles. Alyce is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, AnnaMae and Stanley "Mike" Hugunine of Verona; her special loving nieces, Beve, JoAnn, Mary, and Cindy; and several additional loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, John Reber on January 2, 1978; four sisters, Mae Stockbridge, Katherine Tuttle, Margaret Kenneally, and Nora Burns; and four brothers, James, Thomas, Joseph, and William Kenneally. Mrs. Reber's funeral service will be held on Thursday at 6:00p.m. at the Gulla Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 209 N. Washington St., Rome, (336-5700). Interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 4:00 to 6:00p.m. prior to the service. The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the entire staff at Bethany Gardens especially Cheri, B.J., MaryBeth, and Linda for whom she felt a special affection. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the National Scoliosis Foundation, 5 Cabot Pl., Stoughton, MA 02072.
